In State Election Commission of Maharashtra’s updated order issued on 27 November 2025, election-campaign restrictions have been strictly imposed across Gondia district. From 10 pm on 1 December, all public gatherings, rallies and sound amplifiers are banned — and even informal group movements or processions of more than five people are prohibited. Violators will face legal action under the relevant sections of the law. Traditional ceremonies such as funerals, weddings or religious processions remain exempt under this directive.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that Gondia will face no shortage of funds for development, promising to transform the city into a waste-free and corruption-free urban model. Emphasizing transparency and upgraded civic facilities, he directed authorities to strengthen waste management, improve basic infrastructure, and ensure efficient governance.

In a recent meeting in Bhandara, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule sharply questioned the presence and unity of Indian National Congress (Congress) leaders in the region, asserting that “they don’t even look at each other.” Bawankule asserted that despite the Congress claiming strength in Vidarbha, its leaders seem disconnected — lacking coordination, solidarity, and visibility at the grassroots level. The criticism came amid a string of local-level rallies across Bhandara, Pavni, Sakoli and Tumsar. He warned that internal divisions are driving many Congress workers away. The BJP, according to him, is seeking votes based on unity and clear organization — something he says Congress has lost.
